Courtney has a passion for the personal, relational, and spiritual development that can occur while working at the wheel, and approaches her artistic practice as a tool for continual reflection and growth.

Courtney Juen received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in ceramics and printmaking from Oklahoma State University and is currently a MFA candidate at Texas Tech University. Juen works primarily on the wheel to create vessels that emphasize stillness as a form of encounter through simplicity of form. Her work is characterized by gracious contour lines, inviting rounded forms, and crisp mid-range glazes. Juen has a passion for the personal, relational, and spiritual development that can occur while working at the wheel, and approaches her artistic practice as a tool for continual reflection and growth. She aims to invite others into that process by creating spaces for individuals to experientially learn through the chaos and stillness offered through the medium of clay.

While at Oklahoma State University, Juen became proficient in wheel throwing, sculpting, glaze development, and various methods of kiln firing. After undergrad, Juen apprenticed with Brandon Reese for two years and taught wheel classes while developing her portfolio in hopes of attending grad school. Juen is now a MFA candidate at Texas Tech university where she anticipates to graduate in 2026. On November 3rd, 2023 Juen’s work will be exhibited at the Paseo Arts Center for her first solo show (public reception from 5-9). Her work has been juried into international exhibitions, most notably 1,000 Vases in Paris, France (2022). Juen has received awards for her thrown stoneware, hand-built, and sculptural work from Modella Art Gallery and The Gardiner Gallery of Art in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
